The state of the economy has impacted many of our families with loss of jobs or reduction in income. The Free and Reduced Priced Meal Program is available to assist families during times of financial hardship. The Desoto County Schools Child Nutrition Program accepts free and reduced meal applications throughout the school year.  Students approved for free or reduced priced meals may eat breakfast and lunch free or at a reduced cost.  This year we have implemented a NEW Online system to apply for Free and Reduced Benefits.  Families can apply online allowing for complete privacy and convenience 24/7.  Simply Click the button below to get started now!
You may now print off your letter of approval for free and reduced price meal benefits at www.schoollunchstatus.com Forms are sent home with each child on the first day of school. If you need a form, please visit your child’s school. Only one application needs to be completed per household. Students are fed for the first 30 days based on the previous year’s eligibility. If an application has not been received and processed by September 20, 2013, then your child’s eligibility will be changed to full pay. DeSoto County Schools has implemented a new Online Application for faster, easier benefit determination. Parents can rest assured the information supplied online or on the form is strictly confidential. Eligibility for free and reduced price meal is not retroactive, school meals must be paid for until the free and reduced application is approved. Privacy Act Statement: This explains how we will use the information you give us. The Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act requires the information on this application. You do not have to give the information, but if you do not, we cannot approve your child for free or reduced price meals. You must include the social security number of the adult household member who signs the application. The social security number is not required when you apply on behalf of a foster child or you list a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) case number or other FDPIR identifier for your child or when you indicate that the adult household member signing the application does not have a social security number. We will use your information to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced price meals, and for administration and enforcement of the lunch and breakfast programs. We MAY share your eligibility information with education, health, and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund, and determine benefits for their programs, auditors for program reviews, and law enforcement officials to help them look into violations of program rules.
